Research Founders: Jen-Hsun Huang, David Kirk and Bill Dally

In 2006, NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang called on his then Chief Scientist (now NVIDIA Fellow) David Kirk to create a word-class research organization that would create IP for future NVIDIA products – this is how NVIDIA Research was born. Initially focused on graphics and GPU computing, the scope of research was expanded when Jen-Hsun and David recruited Bill Dally from Stanford to include research areas such as architecture and circuits. Today NVIDIA Research is home to over 100 research scientists and includes additional research areas such as Mobile Visual Computing, Networking, ASIC&VLSI, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision in addition to the founding areas.
