Bio:

P. J. Narayanan is a Professor and Dean of Research at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and heads the Centre for Visual Information Technology. He earned his bachelors in CSE in 1984 from IIT, Kharagpur and his PhD in Computer Science in 1992 from the University of Maryland, College Park. He worked in the Lipi group of CMC Ltd from 1984 to 1986 and was a research faculty member at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University from 1992 to 1996.  He headed the Computer Vision and Virtual Reality groups at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, DRDO, Bangalore from 1996 till he joined IIIT-H in 2000. His research interests include Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, GPU Computing, and Virtual Reality. He was the General Chair of the second Indian Conference on Computer Vision, Graphics, and Image Processing (ICVGIP) in 2000 and the Program Chair of the Asian Conference on Computer Vision (ACCV 2006) and ICVGIP 2010. He was a Senior Programme Committee member of IJCAI 2007 and the Area Chair of ICCV 2007, ACCV 2007, 2009, and 2010.  He currently Co-Chairs the ACM India Council. Program Chair of the Asian Conference on Computer Vision (ACCV 2006) and ICVGIP 2010. He was a Senior Programme Committee member of IJCAI 2007 and the Area Chair of ICCV 2007, ACCV 2007, 2009, and 2010.  He currently Co-Chairs the ACM India Council.
