NVIDIA

Gergely Klár, known as Greg outside Hungary, is a computer scientist with a deep expertise in the simulation of natural phenomena and the application of machine learning to animation. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was advised by Prof. Joseph Teran. His doctoral research focused on the Material Point Method (MPM), a numerical technique used for simulating the behavior of materials such as sand, snow, and fluids.

Drawn to visual effects and simulation, he worked at DreamWorks Animation and later joined Weta Digital. At Weta Digital, he contributed to their proprietary multi-physics engine and played a key role in developing their next-generation facial animation system. His work has been featured in titles such as Avatar: The Way of Water.

Currently at NVIDIA, he and his team conduct research at the intersection of simulation of dynamic phenomena and generative AI.
