Christoph Schied works as a senior research scientist at NVIDIA since 2021. His main research interests are photo-realistic real-time rendering, graphics pipelines, and machine learning. Prior to this, he worked at Facebook Reality Labs (now Meta Reality Labs) on graphics pipelines based on machine learning. He independently developed a fully path-traced and denoised version of Quake II as open source which NVIDIA productized as Quake II RTX. During his time at Prof. Dr. Carsten Dachsbacher's lab at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology he developed the Spatio-Temporal Variance-Guided Filter (SVGF) for real-time path tracing denoising.
