Jonghyun Kim is a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA Research, specializing in near-eye display (AR/VR), light field display, and holographic display. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University in 2017 and joined NVIDIA the same year. From 2019 to 2022, he was a visiting scholar with Prof. Gordon Wetzstein at Stanford University.
His recent work focuses on miniaturizing VR/AR headsets while maintaining 3D capabilities and other functions such as vision correction, large FOV, high-resolution inset for fovea, privacy, and eye-contact interaction. His AR demo in a glasses form factor won the ‘Best in Show’ award at SIGGRAPH 2019 Emerging Technologies.
Currently, he works on 3D vision conferencing research within the AMRI team.
