Jason is a Research Scientist at NVIDIA and an Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on developing techniques that combine deep reinforcement learning, motion imitation, and physics-based simulation to synthesize agile, naturalistic motor skills for physically-simulated characters and real-world robots. He was awarded the 2022 SIGGRAPH Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award for his work on character animation with deep reinforcement learning, and his research has been applied to quadrupedal and bipedal robots, as well as complex athletic behaviors such as tennis.
