Graduate Fellow: Wilson Wai Lun Fung (2012)

Wilson Fung is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia working under the supervision of Professor Tor Aamodt.  Wilson received his B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2006 and 2008, respectively.  His current research focuses on architecture and microarchitecture innovations to efficiently support programming models that robustly exploit irregular parallelism, such as transactional memory, on manycore accelerators such as GPUs.  His recent work on KILO TM, a hardware transactional memory system designed for GPUs, was selected as a "Top Pick" from computer architecture conferences by IEEE Micro magazine.  He is also one of the main contributors to GPGPU-Sim, a cycle-level GPU performance simulator that focuses on GPU computing.
