Research: Saman's research currently focuses on design and implementation of dynamic data structures suitable for massively parallel machines including GPUs. The final objective, as a programmer, is to have the ability to efficiently update a data structure of choice on the GPU without any need for rebuilding the whole data structure. He is also interested in dynamic memory allocations on GPUs which can also be seen as a dynamic data structure problem. Research Link

Bio: Saman is a fifth year Ph.D. candidate in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of California, Davis working with Prof. John Owens. His research interests include GPGPU computing, parallel algorithms and data structures, distributed systems, and high performance computing. He holds a B.S. in EE from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran and M.S. in ECE from UC Davis.
