Eric Ryan Chan
Stanford University
Research

Eric Chan designs generative models for 3D objects and scenes. The work enables AI that can synthesize objects and scenes for content creation or reconstruct real-life worlds for 3D perception, with applications including photorealistic 3D avatars, text-to-object generation, and computer vision for robotics.

Bio

Eric is a second-year Ph.D. student at Stanford where he is advised by Gordon Wetzstein and Jiajun Wu. After studying mechanical engineering and computer science at Yale, he began learning the basics of computer vision in the hope of teaching robots and algorithms to better understand the world around them. Over the last couple of years, his focus has shifted to the intersection of 3D graphics and vision—to generalization across 3D representations and 3D generative models.
