Apoorva Sharma is a Research Scientist in the Autonomous Vehicles Group at NVIDIA Research. His research interests focus on quantifying uncertainty in machine learning, with application towards building safe ML-enabled autonomous systems.
Apoorva received his PhD and MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. His PhD thesis, "Methods for Quantifying, Representing, and Utilizing Uncertainty in Learning-Enabled Autonomy" proposed novel approaches to equip ML models with estimates of epistemic uncertainty, as well as algorithms for planning with uncertain models. Prior to attending Stanford, Apoorva received his BS in Engineering at Harvey Mudd College, where he was a member of the Lab for Autonomous and Intelligent Robotics, working on path planning for autonomous underwater vehicles.
